Vote Cobham Blogger!

A few people (just a few) have asked about elections on Thursday.

Everyone knows more than they could ever wish about the national election thanks to the leaders debates.

But Cobham hasn’t been on telly so here we go.

MP – On your ballot paper in our constituency Esher + Walton will be Dominic Raab (Conservative), Lionel Blackman (Lib Dem), Francis Eldergill (Labour), Bernard Collignon (UK Independence Party), Chinners (Monster Raving Loony), Tony Popham (Independent), Mike Kearsley (English Democrats) and Andy Lear (Best of a Bad Bunch).

The last MP Ian Taylor was Conservative.

But you also get a vote in the Elmbridge Council elections depending on where you live.

Cobham and Downside
Cobham Fairmile
Oxshott and Stoke D’Abernon

Having had a look, it’s basically a choice for Conservative, Lib Dem or Labour to run the council – at the moment it’s Conservative.

Unfortunately you can’t vote for the Cobham Blogger, sorry.

CODS Youth Football – Tonight!

Cobham, Oxshott, Downside and Stoke D’Abernon (CODS) Youth Action Group are starting weekly football sessions run by Chelsea coaches at Cobham Rec every Thursday starting at 5:30pm.  It’s free to play and is open to all youth (exact age range tbc).

This is one of a number of projects CODS runs, along with the Costa Coffee evenings in Cobham’s High Street, and a Beauty Club in Oxshott.  The police are actively involved and this looks like it will be a great way to give the young people of Cobham something to do in the evenings.  Perhaps there will be enough response to get a football team started?  Anyway, tell your friends and they may know someone who has kids who would love it.

If you’d like to find out more about what CODS do, email me at cobhamblogger@hotmail.com and I’ll give you relevant contact details.

Gone to pot

That great scourge of Surrey so prevalent after icefall – the pothole is lurking – so watch your wheels or prepare your council compensation forms.

And floods of near Biblical proportions can be seen on Sandy Lane too every time it rains.

I have been told by the nice person who sent these pictures to look closely at the finger of the passenger of the BMW as they approach the RAC van.

She must be pointing heavenward to the next deluge.

Ah well, we may have third world roads but at least we have a first world ride.

Murraymania arrives in Oxshott

Murray

Andy Murray is arriving in Oxshott in a mansion built by Cobham-based Avicam Homes.

His mum was spotted in the village earlier this week apparently.

Will he join Oxshott tennis club or will he just turn up and pay £5 at Cobham rec?

Of course we all know his great English predecessor tiny Tim Henman was a pupil at Reeds School who used to get lifts into London with Sue Barker. And one of the Lloyd brothers tennis clan lives in Oxshott too.

Click here to see pics of his house.

Andy, when you’re on the road, keep up with what’s happening at home on the Cobham (and Oxshott) Blogger.

(thanks to Rosiegirl for the spot)

John Terry on the wing (the East wing that is)

john-terry-slip-404_673160c

John Terry wants to add a wing to his Oxshott mansion in Princes Drive, Oxshott  but will he be able to put one past the neighbours or will he slip up again?

He wants to bring an indoor swimming pool, gym, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and changing facilities to make the house competitive for next season.

The neighbours aren’t willing to be overawed by the England captain. Last time around this clash went the way of the Birds Hill residents association.

Final whistle for objections to the council is June 24.

Prediction: Terry 0 v 2 Stockbrokers
